Maybe everyone has that one song? It’s amazing the Pandora’s Box that is opened when it comes to memory — smell, taste, sounds. Coconut oil, fo example — sunbaking in Emma Felton’s back garde in Richmond Avenue, St Ives, aged 14….the body’s memories….always ours, until we are perished….

(And BIG thanks for the enthusiasm for MY HUNDRED LOVERS. As I said on the night, yours was the first “reader” response I’ve had and I was just beside myself with joy at your response. I don’t think anyone but another writer — or an actor or a painter or, hell, anyone putting their work out there to be “judged” — can know how nerve wracking this moment of public revealing is….so, phew and double phew — although no doubt, hey, someone, somewhere is bound NOT to like it….but you know what they say “if you can’t stand the heat….” And — ahem — I can. I am now here for the duration….thanks again!)
